Guatemala

The Heart of the Maya World, located in Central America, bordered by Mexico, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador is one of the most attractive countries in the world with its volcanoes, rainforests, and lakes, including Lake Atitlán. It is a mix of indigenous and Spanish influences, seen in its colorful markets, traditional clothing, and colonial architecture also known for its coffee, textiles, and agriculture.

We spent most of our time in Antigua a beautifully preserved colonial town with cobblestone streets and colorful facades. It is Surrounded by three volcanoes Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango making its landscape truly breathtaking. Each volcano has its own unique characteristics.

Volcán de Agua (Water Volcano), height: 3,766 meters (12,356 feet), south of Antigua, dominating the skyline of Antigua with its perfect cone shape.

Volcán de Fuego (Fire Volcano), height: 3,763 meters (12,346 feet), west of Antigua, near Acatenango is one of Central America’s most active volcanoes, with frequent eruptions visible from Antigua. Small eruptions happen every 15-30 minutes which you see in some of the pictures.
