Argentina

- is the second-largest country in South America, stretching from the subtropics in the north to the frigid southern tip of the continent. This vast size and variations in altitude create a wide range of climates. A land of contrasts that boasts stunning landscapes from the rugged peaks of Patagonia to the serene beauty of the Lake District.

Our trip started in the capital Buenos Aires   following South to:

Bariloche located in the foothills of the Andes mountains with  its striking resemblance to Switzerland. It boasts snow-capped peaks, pristine lakes like Nahuel Huapi, and lush valleys, reminiscent of the Swiss Alps.  Like Switzerland, Bariloche has a strong chocolate culture with numerous shops and even an annual Easter festival featuring a giant chocolate bar. Swiss and German immigrants settled here, leaving their mark on the architecture and even the occasional German word heard around town.

El Calafate Nicknamed the "City of Glaciers," El Calafate is the main jumping-off point for exploring the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier. El Calafate offers a taste of the rugged Patagonian landscape with its vast plains, glacial lakes, and the imposing Andes Mountains as a backdrop. The surrounding Patagonian steppe offers opportunities for wildlife spotting, where you might encounter guanacos, foxes, and various bird species.

Ushuaia is a city at the southernmost tip of South America, often referred to as "El Fin del Mundo" (The End of the World). It offers a blend of stunning natural beauty, rich history, and exciting adventure activities. Many expedition cruises to Antarctica depart from here. The city rests on the scenic Beagle Channel, a waterway separating Tierra del Fuego from numerous islands. The channel offers opportunities to observe wildlife like sea lions, Gentoo penguins, King penguins and dolphins. The Martial Mountains surround Ushuaia, providing a dramatic backdrop. It is the gateway to Tierra del Fuego National Park with its stunning wilderness area known for its glaciers, lakes, mountains, and diverse subantarctic wildlife.
