Australia East Coast
We drove along the east coast of Australia between Sydney and The Whitsundays an area of stunning and diverse landscapes, vibrant cities, and pristine beaches. Leaving Sydney behind heading north we passed the lush rainforests and golden sands of Byron Bay, followed by the glittering high-rises and surf beaches of the Gold Coast. Further along, the Sunshine Coast – stop over in Brisbane - and Fraser Island showcase natural wonders, including unique wildlife and pristine ecosystems. In Whitsundays we found an idyllic tropical paradise, with turquoise waters, coral reefs, and white-sand beaches perfect for sailing and snorkeling within the Great Barrier Reef.
Fraser Island, officially known as K'gari, is the largest sand island in the world located off Queensland's Sunshine Coast. It is famous for its pristine freshwater lakes, like Lake McKenzie and Lake Wabby, crystal-clear streams such as Eli Creek, and vast stretches of golden beaches, including the iconic 75 Mile Beach. The island is rich in biodiversity, home to unique wildlife like dingoes, humpback whales (seasonally), and a variety of bird species.
