Western Australia 2005 - a Glimpse into the Past

Western Australia (WA) is Australia’s largest state, covering nearly one-third of the country with a stunning coastline, vast outback, and diverse landscapes. WA offers a mix of modern city life in Perth, world-class wineries in Margaret River, and breathtaking natural wonders like the Pinnacles, Karijini National Park, and Ningaloo Reef.

Perth is the capital, a mix of urban attractions, like Elizabeth Quay, a waterfront precinct with restaurants, bars, and public art and Kings Park with panoramic views of the city skyline. We took a 1.5-hour Swan River ferry from Elizabeth Quay to Fremantle, a historic port city with great markets, breweries, and colonial architecture. The Swan River is a prominent waterway which flows through the heart of Perth, offering stunning views, recreational opportunities, and a connection to the city's history and culture.

Friends took us to Albany and Katanning.  The first is a historic coastal city located on the southern coast of WA, about 418 km southeast of Perth. It is known for its stunning beaches, rugged coastline, and rich colonial history, a popular destination for history lovers, beachgoers, and nature enthusiasts, offering a peaceful escape with breathtaking landscapes.

Katanning, Western Australia is a rural town located about 277 km southeast of Perth in the Great Southern region. Known for its multicultural community, agriculture, and historical charm, Katanning is a hub for sheep farming, wheat production, and regional trade.
