Tibet

In March 2006 we had the opportunity to visit Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, which lies on the Lhasa River's north bank in a valley of the Himalayas. It was a guided tour as travels were required to obtain a special permit in addition to their China visa.

Lhasa is a significant culture and religious center , home of landmarks such as Potala Palace , Jokhang Temple and Barkor Street.

The high altitude plateau , average 4000 m has a harsh climate , thin air where people live a nomadic lifestyle  herding Yak and Sheep.
